Welcome to Los Chanares Dove Hunting Lodge

Dear Friends:

Bienvenidos a Córdoba and Los Chanares!

We hope you have an excellent trip with us over the next few days. For some of you it will be your first of many trips. So, to our “dove virgins”, be prepared for the trip of a lifetime.

For others who have been to our place multiple times, we hope to continually surprise you with new improvements and better shooting.

We are a young energetic team at your service. Alex Mitri and Jessica Ciappa run the whole operation and the lodge. Please feel free to ask them for anything to make your stay more comfortable. Martin Carranza is in charge of the game management program and hunting. Last but not least, our house and field staff that together comprise a work force of more than 30 people.

Together, we aim to make you feel right at home and not at a hotel. Because this is not a 50 room hotel. This is also a place to invite your family and friends and enjoy time with them. So when you are not out at the field shooting your 4 cases a day, we want to make sure you feel comfortable at the lodge.

SOME HELPFUL TIPS

Water
It is advisable NOT to drink the tap water, as you are not use to it. Drink only the bottled water available in your rooms, the dining table and in the field. Also, the ice is made of bottled water.

Electricity
Our electricity is 220 volts. There should be adapters in each room for your electrical appliances. WARNING: Please make sure your electrical devices are not 110 volts or else they will burn out. Typically cell phone chargers and computer batteries are fine, but hair dryers will not work. Please ask us if you are in doubt.

Smoking
We ask you to refrain from smoking inside the lodge and rooms. The outside dining area is considered “outside”, but please check with the other guests before lighting up. We have an excellent selection of complimentary Cuban cigars that we will offer after dinner. If you are interested in purchasing Cuban cigars from our excellent contact in Buenos Aires, please inquire.

Bar
All the beer, wine, spirits and soft drinks at the lodge are complimentary. The wooden refrigerator next to the lodge entrance is always well stocked and at your disposal. Please feel free to mix cocktails and help yourself to drinks at any time of the day.

Telephone
We have free high-speed satellite internet service available at the lodge. We have a business center where you can find a computer available with internet service. The internet phone is also available for U$15 unlimited use over the course of your trip. Please let us know if you use the phone or write down your name in the form provided. There are certain hot spots on the property where you will find cell phone service.

Forget something?
You will find shampoo, conditioner and soap in your bathroom. In case you need items of personal use (toothbrush, toothpaste, shaving cream, razor or comb), just ask anyone in the staff and we’ll get it to you right away.

Do you need clean towels?
Help us preserve our natural resources. In case you want your towels changed every day, please leave the dirty ones on the floor. Otherwise, towels left hanging elsewhere will mean “do not change”. Using towels more than once saves hundreds of pounds of detergent and thousands of gallons of water each year. We are committed to do our best to protect the environment. Thank you for helping us not waste water and preserve the environment.

Housekeeping service
Your room will be cleaned once a day from 8 am. to 1pm. For laundry, please put your dirty clothes in the laundry bag that is on the table at the foot of your bed or in the closet. There is a turn down service in the evenings.

Breakfast
If you’re an early riser, join us for fresh coffee in the outside dining area. Help yourself to fresh fruit, muffins, toast and eggs before you begin your day. You will definitely want to try the Argentinean favorite, dulce de leche.

Lunch
Enjoy a traditional Argentinean asado (BBQ) lunch. Feast on delicious, homemade empanadas, dove brochettes, pork sausage, tenderloin, ribs, skirt steak, pork chops, chicken and much more.

Dinner
Taste a variety of local seasonal favorites including our famous cuts of Argentinean beef. Jessica Ciappa’s Italian night is another favorite of our guests.

Massage
After the shoot, enjoy a professional upper- or full-body massage from one of our local masseuses. The masseuses come in from Cordoba city and our professional kinesiologists. We will ask at lunchtime who wants a massage for that evening. The cost of the massage will be on the shell bill, but you can leave a tip for the girls directly.

Gratuities
We suggest all house staff tips are handed out to Alex at the end of the trip when you settle the shell bill and we will distribute them among the staff. It is recommended that the bird boys tips be settled directly with the birds boys on the last shoot.

Gun Rental
We have over 30 shotguns available for rental. The guns are semi-automatic and over and under 20 and 28 gauge guns.

Gift Shop
Our gift shop is well stocked with caps, t-shirts, polo shirts, dress shirts, vests, etc. We also have an excellent selection of leather goods including shooting accessories such as gun sleeves, gun cases, bird straps, gloves, passport wallets, etc. Finally, don’t forget to bring home something for the wife such as a leather purse. Talk to our gift shop guru Jessica Ciappa for prices and gift shop suggestions.

Bird Boys
You will have the same bird boy with you every day. You can tip the bird boy at the end of your trip directly. Even though there is a language barrier, enjoy your time with your bird boy as you will be spending the entire day with them. They are very friendly and want to make your shooting as comfortable as possible. They can load your gun if you like and will always have drinks and shells available. Please let Alex or Martin know if there are any suggestions about your bird boys.

A LITTLE LOS CHANARES HISTORY
The Los Chanares lodge was built in order to both enjoy the world class dove shooting in Cordoba AND avoid the long van drives to the field. In 1996, the original owner Serge Dompierre moved to Argentina and purchased the original roost area.

Serge built the first part of the lodge in 2000 and began the long process of game management to attract and keep the birds on his property. Due to the immediate success of this unique property, Serge expanded the lodge in both 2002 and 2003. Serge sold the business in 2005 to David Perez.

Since 2005, David Perez and his team have added 3 more rooms (10 total) and doubled the number of annual guests. More importantly, the quality of the shooting has greatly improved over the years due to several new fields under lease and the further concentration of doves due to our advanced game management program. The quality of the food and accommodations at the lodge has also significantly improved so that our clients can truly enjoy a 5-star experience!

Currently we shoot on 7,000 acres of land. There are over 40 shooting areas with over 300 shooting stations. The shooting is all done within 15 minutes of the lodge and the majority of the time you will be driving 5 minutes or less.

There is no place in Argentina that can match this which is why we stand out among the rest. So Enjoy!
