Wingshooting in Cordoba Argentina

For over twenty-five years seasoned international wingshooters have recognized Cordoba, Argentina as the world’s leading destination for wingshooting and dove hunting vacations. Those accustomed to Mexico dove hunts will be right at home here in Cordoba from November to February, as the weather is exactly the same. Since we are in the Southern Hemisphere, our seasons are exactly reversed—this is our summer.

Many of these same experienced shooters will tell you that, aside from the quality of the food, wine, and accommodations, that there is very little difference between the leading dove hunting outfitters in the Cordoba region.

Aside from bargain outfitters, for about twenty years, that was pretty much a true statement—then estancia Los Chanares was born in 1998… After speaking to literally hundreds of clients, the research conducted by Los Chanares determined that there was only one aspect of the Argentina dove hunting experience that could be improved upon— the long and uncomfortable drives to the fields where the hunting takes place.

Although it is estimated that there are over twenty five million non-migratory doves in the region, over the course of the year, they move about frequently between different small roosts, usually because their food sources become pressured, or depleted. Due to the movement, competing hunting outfitters end up having to drive a long way down dusty, pothole-laden roads in order to provide consistent dove shooting. Or worse, “Bargain outfitters” just put you in any field that saves them gas and daily field rent money.

However, at Los Chanares, this is not the case. We never drive you more than twelve minutes to get you to the spot where you will pull the trigger thousands of times a day. The drive across our beautifully manicured grounds is smooth and comfortable. Guests can return from the field for a swim in the pool, or a midday siesta by golf cart—No other dove hunting lodges, or hunting outfitters in Argentina can make that claim.

The reason for this is simple, but powerful. The largest dove roost in the region, and probably the entire country, is located right in the middle of the property. This roost is made up of small trees, called Chanares, and holds literally millions of doves. Our wildlife management practices ensure that the food sources on our property are never pressured. We have over 2,000 acres of sunflower crop planted just for the birds, as well as supplement all shooting areas with hundreds of pounds of corn every week—which is incredibly effective.

Our 26 shooting stations are all strategically located at safe distances from the roosting area, waterholes, and other shooting stations. Designed to mirror the plan of a golf course, they offer varying degrees of shot difficulty— from beginner to master class. Dove hunting shotguns of all calibers, except .410, are available for rent at Los Chanares.
